Many collectors will have different points of entry when it comes to Schuco Toys - the iconic German toymaker has a prolific 100+ year history, has undergone a number of corporate transformations and has produced many different styles of toy over the ages.
Collectors of modern-era Schuco productions will be familiar with their current line of diecast vehicles. Schuco began to produce the traditional format of 1:43 scale diecast models in the 1960s with the “1000 series” line. Then in the 1970s they released the “300 series” line of 1:66 scale diecast, as well as a new “600 series” line of 1:43 scale. This new line was extremely detailed and precise, with near perfect proportions and refined paint application. Most of the models were of German cars such as Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW. Unfortunately, Schuco went bankrupt in 1976, and wouldn’t make a true comeback until 1993. This gallery showcases a number of pre-bankruptcy Schuco diecast models, all of which are also available for purchase in our vintage toy store!
